Webasto EVO5 Hydronic Heater Quick Guide
Simple Rhinomax-specific instructions to operate and troubleshoot your Webasto EVO5 Hydronic Hot Water & Air Heater. For full technical information, download the PDF manual below.
⚙️ Basic Operation (Rhinomax Edition)
Follow these steps for everyday use of your Webasto EVO5 in a Rhinomax camper.
1. Switching the Heater ON
Use your RM Command system to turn the heater ON. Allow 15–20 minutes for the glycol tank to reach operating temperature before relying on full heat output.
2. Using Cabin Air Heating
Once the system is hot, turn the cabin fan heater to your desired speed. The unit will deliver air at approx. 60°C to heat the cabin.
3. Using Hot Water
Turn ON your Water Pump via the RM Command system. Open any hot water tap and adjust the blue mixing valve to fine-tune water temperature.
4. Switching the Heater OFF
Switch OFF using the RM Command system.
Critical: Do not isolate the battery — the heater needs a 90-second cooldown cycle to safely purge heat.
🔧 Troubleshooting & Fault Codes
If something doesn’t feel right, run through these quick checks before calling support.
Common Problems & Fixes
- Heater won't start:
- Check the 20A fuse for the heater circuit.
- Low voltage (under ~12.5V) can prevent startup.
- Starts then shuts down:
- Air in the fuel line. Try restarting 2–3 times.
- Heater overheating—may need coolant bleed.
- Check battery voltage.
- H06 Overheat:
- Low coolant level.
- Coolant circuit may need bleeding.
- Check for hose kinks or closed valves.
- Black smoke from exhaust:
- Check that the intake and exhaust are free of mud, dust, or debris.
Common Fault Codes (Digital Controller)
- H02 – No Start: Fuel/system issue.
- H06 – Overheat: Coolant level/flow issue.
- 84 – Low Voltage: Battery too low under load.
- 87 – Lockout: Requires reset procedure.
How to Reset a Permanent Lock-Out (H87)
- Turn OFF via RM Command.
- Remove 20A fuse → 30 sec.
- Refit fuse → 30 sec.
- Turn ON → remove fuse within 3–10 sec.
- Wait 30 sec → refit fuse.
- Turn OFF → wait 30 sec.
- Turn ON → lockout cleared.
