Dometic NRX 80 Compressor Fridge Quick Guide

Your Rhinomax-installed NRX80 fridge is a premium 12/24V compressor refrigerator designed for reliable off-grid cooling. Use this quick guide for normal operation and troubleshooting. For detailed installation and safety information, download the full Dometic manual below.

⚙️ Basic Operation (Rhinomax Edition)

Everything you need for everyday use of your NRX80 fridge inside a Rhinomax camper.

1

1. Switching the Fridge ON

Press and hold the Power Button for 2–3 seconds until the display lights up. The compressor will engage automatically as cooling is needed.

2

2. Adjusting Temperature

Use the Temperature Selector to choose the cooling level. More bars = colder. Allow several hours after loading for temps to stabilise.

3

3. Night / Silent Mode

Activate Silent Mode to reduce compressor noise and power consumption overnight. Press the same button again to exit Silent Mode.

4. Door Latching

The NRX uses a two-point latch. Ensure the door clicks firmly before towing to prevent warm air ingress and spills.

❄️ Cooling Performance & Food Storage

Maximise cooling efficiency and protect your food supply.

Loading Food Correctly
  • Load pre-chilled food whenever possible.
  • Do not block internal air vents.
  • Allow airflow around items (avoid packing tightly).
  • Store raw meat in sealed containers.
Improving Cooling Performance
  • Select more bars in hot weather.
  • Limit door openings—warm air causes compressor cycling.
  • Ensure no obstructions behind the fridge (ventilation).
  • Allow 8–10 hours pre-chilling before loading fresh groceries.
Defrosting
  • Defrost when ice thickness reaches 3–4 mm.
  • Turn the fridge OFF and leave door open.
  • Let ice melt naturally — do not scrape.
  • Wipe dry before restarting.

🔧 Troubleshooting & Fault Indicators

Quick fixes for common symptoms before contacting service.

Fridge Not Cooling
  • Ensure fridge is ON and display is active.
  • Check 12V supply at the camper power panel.
  • Check ventilation behind fridge is clear.
  • Door not closing fully — check gasket or food blocking shelves.
Excessive Frost
  • High humidity or frequent door opening.
  • Door gasket dirty or not sealing.
  • Perform a full defrost if frost exceeds 4 mm.
Compressor Runs Constantly
  • Ambient temperature extremely high.
  • Ventilation blocked behind the fridge.
  • Large amount of warm food loaded.
Error/Warning Indicators
  • Power Warning: Low battery voltage.
  • Temperature Error: Sensor or cooling system issue.
  • Door Alarm: Door left open or not latched fully.

🛠️ Preventative Maintenance Tips

Keep your NRX80 running efficiently with these simple habits.

🧽

Clean Seals

Wipe door seals monthly using mild soapy water. Prevents leaks and improves efficiency.

🌬

Keep Vents Clear

Ensure ventilation openings remain unobstructed. Compressor cooling depends on good airflow.

🔋

Watch Battery Voltage

Low voltage causes compressor cut-outs. Keep batteries topped up for stable operation.
