Victron MultiPlus 2kVA Inverter/Charger Quick Guide
Simple Rhinomax-specific instructions to operate and troubleshoot the Victron MultiPlus 2kVA inverter/charger in your camper. For full technical details and safety information, download the official Victron manual below.
⚙️ Basic Operation (Front Switch)
Use the front On / Off / Charger Only switch for everyday operation of the MultiPlus 2kVA.
On / Inverter & Charger Active
Set the front switch to ON for normal use. The MultiPlus will:
- Supply 230V AC from the batteries when no mains power is present.
- Automatically pass mains / generator AC through to your outlets when available.
- Charge the batteries whenever acceptable AC input is present.
Charger Only Mode
Set the switch to Charger Only when you are plugged into mains or generator power and do not want the inverter to run if AC input is lost.
- AC input is still passed through to your outlets.
- The unit charges the batteries as a smart charger.
- Prevents the batteries from being drained if mains power fails while you’re away.
Using Mains Power
When acceptable mains or generator input is available and the switch is ON or CHARGER ONLY, the MultiPlus will:
- Switch AC input through to your outlets.
- Turn off inverting and start charging the batteries.
- Use PowerAssist to briefly top-up mains power if your load temporarily exceeds the input limit (system-dependent).
Switching Off Safely
To turn the unit off, use the front switch rather than isolating DC power under load.
- Reduce heavy AC loads before shutting down.
- Ensure the inverter has airflow and is not enclosed in a hot compartment.
- For wiring changes or service, switch OFF and isolate both AC and DC supplies.
💡 LED Indicators (Front Panel)
Use the LEDs to quickly check what the MultiPlus 2kVA is doing.
Inverter / Charger Status
- Inverter LED ON: Inverter is running and supplying AC from the batteries.
- Charger LED ON: Unit is charging the batteries (bulk, absorption or float).
- Both Inverter & Charger LEDs OFF with switch ON: No valid AC input and inverter is in standby or off due to a fault.
Alarm LED
- Alarm LED flashing: Pre-alarm – low battery, high internal temperature, overload or high DC ripple. Reduce loads and check battery voltage.
- Alarm LED solid: The MultiPlus has shut down to protect itself. Reduce load, verify battery voltage and temperature, then turn the front switch OFF → wait 4 seconds → turn ON again.
When to Contact Support
- Alarm LED remains on after reset and loads are reduced.
- Charger does not operate when on mains power and the input breaker is ON.
- You suspect damaged cabling, burning smell or visible damage.
If in doubt, contact Rhinomax or a Victron-trained technician. Do not open the unit yourself.
🧰 Quick Troubleshooting
These quick checks cover the most common issues you might see in normal Rhinomax use.
Inverter will not turn on
- Confirm the front switch is in the ON position.
- Check battery voltage on the RV monitor – very low or very high voltage can prevent start-up.
- Turn the front switch OFF → wait 4 seconds → turn ON again to clear a processor lock-up.
Alarm LED flashing while inverting
- Reduce high-draw appliances (air-con, kettles, induction cooktops, etc.).
- Check that ventilation around the MultiPlus is clear and the compartment is not excessively hot.
- Verify battery state of charge – low batteries will trigger under-voltage alarms under load.
Batteries not charging on mains power
- Confirm the park / generator breaker is ON and that 230V is present at the inlet.
- Make sure the front switch is set to ON or Charger Only (not OFF).
- Check the AC input breaker and RCD in the camper’s electrical panel.
- If the charger still does not start, contact Rhinomax or your installer before further use.
