Simple Rhinomax-specific instructions to operate and look after your Sirocco II 12/24 V fan. For full technical details, installation steps and warranty information, download the PDF manual below.
⚙️ Basic Operation (Rhinomax Edition)
Use these steps for everyday operation of the Sirocco II fan fitted to your Rhinomax camper.
1. Position & Lock the Fan
Flip the lock latch up to unlock the fan arm. Rotate the fan to the desired direction, then push the latch back down to lock it in place. Make sure the blade is clear of any objects before turning the fan on.
2. Power & Speeds
Press the Power/Speed button once for low, twice for medium, three times for high, and a fourth time to turn the fan off. The fan can run from either 12 V or 24 V DC.
3. Using the Timer
Press the Timer button 1, 2, 3 or 4 times to set a runtime of 3, 6, 9 or 12 hours. The LED bar lights beside the selected time. When the time expires, the fan switches off automatically. To cancel mid-cycle, press the Timer button until all LEDs go out, then turn the fan off if required.
4. Power Supply & Safety Check
Before use, ensure the fan is securely mounted to the backing plate and wired to an appropriate fused 12/24 V supply. Make sure no loose fabrics or objects can be drawn into the blades and avoid operating near water or high heat sources (heaters, stoves, etc.).
🔧 Troubleshooting & Safety
If something doesn’t feel right, work through these quick checks before calling support.
Common Problems & Fixes
- Fan will not run:
- Check your 12/24 V supply is ON and correctly fused.
- Inspect the wiring connections at the fan base for a firm connection.
- The fan has reverse polarity protection – if wired backwards it won’t run but will not be damaged. Correct the polarity and try again.
- Fan arm won’t stay in place:
- Confirm the lock latch is fully pushed down after positioning.
- Check that the backing plate is firmly mounted and all screws are tight.
- Excess noise or vibration:
- Check the fan isn’t touching walls, cabinets or bedding when it rotates.
- Inspect for dust build-up on the blades and clean if required.
- Ensure the fan arm and backing plate are not loose.
Care & Cleaning
- Always switch power off before cleaning.
- Use a vacuum to remove dust, and a soft dry cloth to wipe the housing and blades.
- Do not use petrol, thinners, solvents or abrasive cleaners on any part of the fan.
- If the fan begins to slow down significantly over time, a simple replacement motor kit may be required – refer to the manual or contact service.
Important Safety Warnings
- Do not use the fan outdoors or on wet surfaces, and never immerse it in water.
- Never allow water to drip into the motor housing.
- Do not operate near open flames, stoves, heaters or other high temperature sources.
- Do not use the fan if the power cord or wiring becomes damaged, frayed or brittle.
- Keep fingers, clothing and loose objects clear of the blades at all times.
🛠️ Preventative Maintenance Tips
These simple habits will help your Sirocco II run quietly and reliably for years.
Keep Blades & Vents Clean
Periodically vacuum dust from the grille and blades, then wipe with a dry cloth. Keeping the fan clean reduces noise and strain on the motor.
Inspect Wiring & Mounts
Check the wiring to the fan base and the backing plate screws every so often, especially after long corrugated-road trips, and retighten if needed.
Use the Timer Smartly
When using the fan overnight, set a 3–12 hour timer instead of running it indefinitely. This reduces unnecessary run time and power draw on your camper battery.
