Future of Towing.
The world is changing, and as the ancient proverb goes ‘he who is resistant to change is destined to perish’… Okay we aren’t that dramatic about the future, but here at Rhinomax we think it’s important to keep an eye on the ever developing world of technology and what we can do to reduce our carbon footprints and improve our everyday lives.
For a long time technology has been almost been synonymous with being inside, but alas no more!
The tech world has made great inroads into the off-road industry and the many innovations we’ve seen develop over the past few years are enhancing experiences such as four-wheel driving, towing and off-grid living.
Perhaps the most exciting (and important) in our opinion is the new way to power our beloved rigs and the benefits moving away from Internal Combustion Engines.
More and more car manufacturers are revealing plans to create an Electric Vehicle option of their successful pickup platforms in response to what can only be described as an overwhelmingly strong demand from consumers (just look at Tesla’s stock price at the moment!). But not everybody is convinced.
When it comes to Electric tow vehicles, tow ability and raw-power are usually no concern. What does offside most people however is range anxiety, and rightly so.
Of course, this means what you tow matters, and in this case lightest is best. Hybrids and other trailer like campers will be ideal for this kind of towing, designed to be compact and agile they are likely to provide much better mileage than a traditional caravan.
Coupled with ever improving solar and batteries management systems (which may even be able to charge your car while you tow one day), the future is looking pretty bright if you ask us.
To get things started here are some of the most exciting Electric tow vehicles set to come out in the coming years (we can’t wait to see some Rhinomax’s behind a few of these):
Tesla Cyber Truck
Rivian R1T
Fisker Ocean
Nissan x Dongfeng Rich pick up
Voltra eCruiser
Ford F-150 EV
